Until end of half-term	Ice skating @ The Eden Project Where else but the Eden Project can you take the surreal stroll from the romantic winter chill of a skating rink to the sensuous subtropical warmth of the rainforest? Skating sessions begin on the hour, last 40 minutes and include skate hire. Usual opening times: Fridays, 3-8.40pm; Saturdays, 12-8.40pm; Sundays, 1-5pm. Fri 3 Feb 7:30pm to 9:30pm	Liskerrett Centre Liskeard - The Tre Project Rare Archive films show at Liskerrett Centre. Specially selected archive film material about Liskeard and the surrounding areas will be screened in a unique event at Liskerrett Centre, Liskeard. March	Blooming marvellous! @ The Eden Project Horticultural highlights for March: The worst of the winter weather is behind us (we hope!) and spring has made a welcome appearance in the outdoor landscape. Take a look at our other horticultural highlights for March, there's peach blossom in the Med Biome, pineapples fruiting in the Rainforest Biome, along with the bizarre looking Dutchman's Pipe. What to look out for at Eden this month
3 March	World Pasty Championships & The Eden Project The World Pasty Championships, a grand celebration of Cornwall’s most famous dish, are coming to the Eden Project. The new event is to take place at the Eden Bakery between the famous Biomes on March 3, 2012, the Saturday before St Piran’s Day which celebrates the national day of Cornwall. From the Americas to Australia, pasties derived from recipes passed down by Cornish emigrants over centuries are eaten and enjoyed by many millions of people. The World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project will celebrate the traditional recipe and set the table for amateur and professional bakers to parade their wares. The new event has the backing of the Cornish Pasty Association, which upholds the reputation of the pasty and represents more than 50 bakers. In 2011 after a long campaign the association won European Union Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status which means that only pasty makers based in Cornwall who make pasties in a traditional manner and follow a traditional recipe are able to label their products as Cornish pasties.

3 March 11am - 1pm	Mount Edgcumbe - Camellia Walk This is an opportunity to join the Curator of the National Camellia Collection, held by Mount Edgcumbe Country Park on a conducted tour of the collection that currently numbers approximately 1,000 cultivars. Meeting at Dry Walk Car Park tickets cost £4 per person. Suitable walking shoes and clothing are a must on this outdoor adventure.
5 March - 18 March	The Vital Spark Festival of Arts, Liskeard A celebration of all things creative - for details of the programme please see www.liskerret.co.uk
5th March	St Piran's Day - Patron Saint of Cornwall Cornwall’s patron saint, St Piran, is the patron saint of tinners from whom the county’s flag takes its name. Over the centuries many pilgrims have visited the site of St Piran's Oratory or Chapel in the towans at Perran Sands. On the nearest Sunday to his special day, March 5, hundreds of people come from all over Cornwall and beyond come to remember and honour him. St Piran’s Tide occurs surrounding the date March 5 and has evolved around St Piran’s Day to provide a week-long event of festivities taking place throughout Cornwall. A highlight of the week are colourful processions with music and dance though Bodmin and Truro on St Piran’s Day itself, and also a re-enactment of St Piran’s arrival in Cornwall on Perran Sands, Perranporth, on the Sunday closest to the 5th of March - St Pirans Play.

	Saltash May Fair 2011 promises to be another great May Fair. Come and join us for a family day of fun. We have Live music, loads of stalls of every kind, Punch and Judy, Hog Roast, A Town Crier Competition, inflatable’s and so much more. The day will kick off with the Parade of Youth Marching from Victoria Gardens down to the bottom of Fore Street. Presentations by the Mayor of Saltash. Then a day of fun and enjoyment for all.
Every Sunday in May 2 to 5pm	Boconnoc House & Gardens Open for charity Tickets available at the entrance. Ample parking. Cream Teas served in the Stable Yard. 1 May 9am – 5pm	Padstow Obby Oss Day The first day of May is Obby Oss day in Padstow.* The origins of this traditional celebration are lost in the midst of time but it is thought to celebrate the arrival of Spring and may even be an ancient fertility festival. *or Monday if 1st is a Sunday. Inhabitants of Padstow (those born in the town) traditionally dress in white, with family loyalties dictating whether they follow the 'Red'/original Oss, or the 'Blue'/peace Oss. Both Oss' are similar in appearance and perform a dancing ritual accompanied by an hypnotic folk song (unique to Padstow) around the town. Each Oss is lead by a group of followers as they make their way through the narrow streets and around the harbour. The festivities start at 10am with the 'Blue' Oss making its first appearance from its stable, followed at 11am by the appearance of the 'Red' Oss from its home. Celebrations go on all day until the Oss' finally go to bed after 10pm. More Info...
5 May 10am to 4pm	Mount Edgcumbe - Introduction to Painting This is a fantastic opportunity to work with local artist Louise Courtnell to capture some of Cornwall’s most beautiful landscape in watercolours, oils or acrylics. Louise will work with you throughout the day giving advice, tips on your use of materials and hints on the painting techniques that have made her such a popular artist. Meeting at Barn Pool Picnic area at 9.45am for a 10am start the course will run until 4pm and costs £25 per person. You should bring all your own equipment for your class. A light picnic lunch will be provided during the day. Places are strictly limited.
5 May	West Looe May Fayre Summer is a coming……all the fun of the fayre
Tues 8 May	Helston Flora Day The internationally famous festival of the Furry, or Flora Dance. This is held every year on May 8th unless that day falls on a Sunday or Monday, when it is held on the preceding Saturday. You'll probably have to park outside the town and walk in. Thousands of visitors throng the streets all day and there's a carnival atmosphere from dawn to well into the night. More info: http://www.helstonfloraday.org.uk/
12 May 4.30am to 7am	Mount Edgcumbe - Dawn Chorus Awaken to the delights of the avian world here at Mount Edgcumbe. Join our expert guide to experience the amazing sounds of dawn birdsong within the gardens of the estate. Meeting at Barrow Car Park at 4:30am, the walk will take approximately 2.5 hours and finish off with breakfast and costs £6.50 per person. Suitable walking shoes and warm clothing is a must, and don’t forget the binoculars!
12, 13 May	LOSTWITHIEL FESTIVAL A festival of music, arts and theatre events with indoor and outdoor crafts and antiques' stalls. Featuring live music from lunchtime till late, street theatre, children's events and activities, as well as stalls featuring quality arts, crafts and antiques. 10 - 19 May	Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts & Literature - Fowey. Once again you can enjoy an entertaining and sparkling 10 days of Star Names, Drama, Music, Talks, Concerts, Guided Walks, local events and Free entertainment. Set in Fowey, overlooking the picturesque Fowey Estuary, and neighbouring towns, the Festival is one of the most popular of its kind in the UK. 	Gribbin Daymark Open Days Visible from land and sea, Gribbin Head is Fowey's sentinel. It is a striking landmark due to its red and white daymark tower. The daymark has sat upon the Gribbin since 1832, providing a navigational aid to mariners. Not far from here is Polridmouth, a lovely cove with two sandy beaches which come together at low tide. 10am - 2pm Gates open: 10am Last admission time: 1.45pm Adult £0.50 (Non- National Trust members)

Bring your favourite tubs and baskets along and we will have all the plants, compost to purchase on site at a reduced rate. There will be a demonstration by our gardening expert, followed by tea and coffee before you get your hands dirty and create your own masterpiece. Costs £5 per person.
20 May 11.30am to 12.30pm	Mount Edgcumbe - Working for ‘Lordy’ An introduction to life ‘below stairs’ and also on the estate at Mount Edgcumbe. Brought to life with photos and stories from the past. Tickets cost £5 per person and include entry to the House and Earls Garden on the day.
26 May 8pm to 10.30pm	Mount Edgcumbe - Going Bats at Mount Edgcumbe Join us for a nocturnal adventure and let our colonies of bats be your guide. With rare species calling Mount Edgcumbe home, you could be in for a real treat with this expedition. Meeting on the terrace at the front of the house at 8pm, the walk will take about 2 to 3 hours and will finish off with hot soup. Please make sure that you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear for the walk. Costs £5 per person.

every Sunday	Looe Lions Car Boot Sale @ West Wayland The Looe Lions Car Boot Sale takes place every Sunday morning (subject to weather conditions) throughout the summer months (June to September) mid way between Looe & Polperro at West Wayland next to the camping and caravaning holiday camp. The official open hours are 08:00 to 12:00 although many regular sellers arrive from 06:30. The location is rural with extensive sea views adding to the enjoyment of the occasion. Weds 6 June 12.30pm to 2pm	Mount Edgcumbe - Seashore Explorer Join the rangers to explore the creatures of the deep, and not so deep here at Mount Edgcumbe. Starting at 12.30pm the event will run across low tide until 2pm. Explore the huge amount of sea life that lives above and below the low water mark. The footing will be slippery so appropriate footwear and wet weather gear is a must for this event. Tickets cost £4 per child (all children must be accompanied by an adult - maximum 3 children per adult).
Thurs 7 June 11.30am to 12.30pm	Mount Edgcumbe - History and Heritage of the Earls Garden Discover all about the beautiful Earls Garden here at Mount Edgcumbe and what’s hidden away in all the nooks and crannies. Starting at 11.30am the talk will last approximately 1 hour. Tickets cost £5 per person and should be booked in advance. Tickets also include entry to the House after the talk.
7,8,9 June	The Royal Cornwall Show Wadebridge For three days each year the showground at Wadebridge is transformed into a living town, bustling with life, energy, agriculture, entertainment and trade. Well over 110,000 people visit the show each year so the showground has to be able to cope. That’s why the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association continually invests in new and improved facilities. 5 August	Mt Edgcumbe Classic & American Car Show & Summer fayre This annual event provides something for all the family. In the Fayre Field there are numerous stalls, many of which raise money for local and national charities. There is a wide range of entertainment for children, performances by three local bands, food outlets and a large area for Car Boot Sales. In the Car Show field are typically over 500 classic, veteran, vintage and American vehicles on display, a beer tent and more food outlets. ENTRY TO THE EVENT IS FREE. Oct 3	Callington Honey Fair On the first Wednesday in October, the Honey Fair boasts street traders, entertainers and exhibitors from far afield. This established tradition was revived in 1978 and is now run by Callington Lions Club. Attractions usually include street and charity stalls, a shop window competition and a visiting Fun Fair.
tba	Eden Project Fun Run, Marathon and Half Marathon The Eden Project’s marathon and half-marathon, two of the UK’s most picturesque and challenging races.Both races take place simultaneously and begin and end in the shadow of Eden’s Biomes. The route runs through the changing landscape of the clay country, an area of mid-Cornwall whose landscape is dominated by the china clay industry. It takes in clay pits and tips, beautiful woodland and even parts where you can see both of Cornwall’s coasts on a clear day. During the race, the Eden Project will have bands, choirs and activities available for waiting family and friends, who will be given free admission. The Eden site will be open throughout the day for those who want to take the time to explore the Biomes and outdoor gardens. At the end of the races, runners will be treated to perhaps the most deserved pint and pasty of their lives and every finisher takes away a medal, t-shirt and goody bag. The day before the big races will see younger runners travel “around the world” in Eden’s one-mile fun run, through both the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes as well as Eden’s outdoor gardens. For marathon and half-marathon runners, the Saturday will see Eden host a pre-race pasta party where runners can pack in the carbohydrates and have the opportunity to socialise with their fellow athletes. Oct 10	Tavistock Goosey Fair Tavistock plays host to an annual fair dating back to the 12th Century. Farmers brought their geese for sale, and drove them through the streets to the Market. Although this practice has virtually stopped, it is still possible to obtain goose lunches at the various restaurants and cafes in the town on that day. The fair attracts market traders and showmen from all over the Country. Stalls and side-shows are set up in the centre of the Town, and the adjacent roads are filed with over 200 traders. 	Callington - an outside Christmas Market - at the Pannier Market from 4pm to 8pm at the Pannier Market, to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas Lights at 5 p.m. Callington Town Band will be playing a selection of Christmas Carols supported by Carol Singers. 	Looe’s Lantern Procession & Carol Service Once again the Town Council will be holding its Annual Lantern Procession and Carol Service There will be two processions from various points in the town - The Millpool, West Looe; and The Globe Inn, East Looe, assembling at approximately 6.30 pm, converging near the Fish Market at 7.00 pm for a Carol Service, followed by soup and rolls in the Tourist Information Centre and Tea Room, The Guildhall, East Looe.
	Mousehole Christmas Lights 2012 ‘switch-on’ There will be the usual open-air Carolaire service at the entrance to the North Quay. The ‘Carolaire Choir’, comprising of the Mousehole Male Voice Choir, Members of the Mousehole Methodist Church and friends from the community together with the Pendeen Silver Band, will lead the community singing. If wet weather, the Carolaire service will be held in Mousehole Methodist Church. Please give generously to our collectors, as all money raised will fund the Christmas lights for the following year.
31st !	New Years Eve Celebrations - Looe Town goes crazy again. Looe is now rated as one of the most popular venues in UK for New Years Eve celebrations. Come in Fancy Dress or you will be the one being stared at! The Fireworks at midnight on the Pier are ON P.S. Taxis are available but need to be booked well in advance!

	Ice skating @ The Eden Project Where else but the Eden Project can you take the surreal stroll from the romantic winter chill of a skating rink to the sensuous subtropical warmth of the rainforest? Skating sessions begin on the hour, last 40 minutes and include skate hire. Usual opening times: Fridays, 3-8.40pm; Saturdays, 12-8.40pm; Sundays, 1-5pm.
